ICRD offers full-time and part-time PhD programmes in Basic and Medical Sciences, delivered in partnership with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Students admitted are registered as “ICRD–MAHE” scholars. Being based inside the hospital, the programme gives scholars direct access to patients, clinical data and a live medical environment.
Categories of PhD candidates
- Full-time PhD with a national scholarship (UGC-NET / CSIR / ICMR, etc.)
- Full-time PhD under a funded project (JRF/SRF)
- Full-time PhD with institutional fellowship
- Full-time PhD, self-sponsored
- Part-time PhD for full-time IQRAA hospital employees
Eligibility criteria
- Minimum 60% aggregate (or equivalent grade) in the qualifying degree, full-time mode
- Medicine / Dentistry: MBBS/BDS or a 5-year UG degree, or MD/MS/MDS/PG Diploma (NMC/DCI recognised)
- Pharmacy: PharmD or PharmD (Post-Baccalaureate), PCI-recognised
- Other fields: Master’s degree (minimum 2 years), UGC or regulatory-body recognised
- Candidates with a valid UGC-recognised national or state eligibility test (with fellowship), or under AICTE/QIP, are exempt from the written test and go straight to interview
Application process
- Applications open online four times each year — April, July, October and December
- Shortlisted candidates take a written entrance exam, then an interview
